Samsung returns with the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 2 after making a strong impression with last year’s Galaxy Book Pro series. In many ways, the new model is similar to last year’s, which isn’t a bad thing given that it’s one of the best lightweight laptops available. It retains the same fantastic Full HD AMOLED panel and lightweight design, but with improved specifications for even better performance.

When will the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro be available?
While Samsung has already announced the new Galaxy Pro 2 series, it will not be available for a few weeks. According to Samsung, pre-orders for the new models will begin on March 18th on Samsung.com, with general availability beginning on April 1st. If you’re interested in Samsung’s latest lightweight laptops, that’s not a long time to wait. However, one thing should be noted: the 5G-enabled models will not be available in the United States for the time being.
While Samsung did announce a 5G version of the Galaxy Book 2 Pro, it will only be available in a few markets, none of which include the United States. Apart from that, it’s unclear whether all configurations will be available at launch. Samsung laptops, on the other hand, have fairly streamlined configurations, which may help ensure that stock is available for all existing configurations.

Price of the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro
Along with the announcement, Samsung revealed pricing information for the Galaxy Book 2 Pro series, though the full details are still unknown. The Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro will be priced at $1,049.99 for the 13.3-inch model, with the 15.6-inch model likely to be slightly more expensive. There will also be configuration options that raise the price, including some new options we didn’t see last year, such as 32GB of RAM or Intel Arc graphics, so prices in the top-tier models will most likely be much higher.
The Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360 will start at $1,249.99, with the higher price reflecting the more versatile design and touch-capable display. Again, the price will vary depending on the configuration and size, so expect it to skyrocket.

What’s New in the Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro?
With Samsung returning for a second round with the Galaxy Book Pro lineup, it’s worth taking a look at what’s new or improved over last year’s models. The original Galaxy Book Pro series was excellent, but Samsung has improved some internal components to make it even better and more modern. Unfortunately, there will be no taller 16:10 or 3:2 displays, but there is still a lot to look forward to here.
Intel P-series processors, 12th generation (and better specs)
The first, and perhaps most notable, the upgrade is that the Galaxy Book 2 Pro series now includes Intel’s 12th-generation P-series processors. That’s a significant improvement on two counts. First, it’s a new generation of Intel CPUs, and it’s one of Intel’s best evolutions yet.
These new processors have a hybrid architecture that combines high-performance cores with more efficient cores, resulting in significantly higher core and thread counts. As a result, you not only get more overall performance but also more efficiency when you don’t need all of the power.
However, it is a significant improvement in terms of raw power. The P-series is a new addition to Intel’s lineup, with a TDP of 28W, as opposed to the U-series’ 15W rating. There are 12th-generation U-series processors, but Samsung decided to upgrade to 28W models, which should result in a significant performance boost. The specific models used here have not been disclosed by Samsung, but we could be looking at up to 14 cores and 20 threads, whereas the U-series models would have a maximum of 10 cores and 12 threads.
This upgrade also includes support for newer technologies such as LPDDR5 RAM, which, due to its significantly faster speeds, should help reduce overall system latency. Similarly, Samsung uses faster PCIe Gen 4 SSDs for storage. On that note, you can now get up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, up from 16GB and 512GB in last year’s models.

A higher-resolution webcam and a brighter display
Despite being released well into the pandemic that began in 2020, the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro still had a 720p webcam, which was disappointing for a premium laptop. Although many other laptops did the same thing, Samsung learned its lesson for 2022. Both the Galaxy Book 2 Pro and Pro 360 include a Full HD webcam, so you’ll look even better during calls.
Aside from the higher resolution, the webcam has a wider field of view, allowing you to fit more in the frame at once. And Samsung’s Studio mode now includes auto framing, which allows the camera to keep you in view even if you move around a little. Noise cancellation is also available on the built-in microphones. Samsung has also improved the display’s brightness, which can now reach up to 500 nits in HDR mode, making content appear more lifelike. The built-in speakers now produce 4W of power on 13.3-inch models and 5W on 15.6-inch models. The wattage of last year’s models was never specified by Samsung, but these should be louder.
Colours have transformed.
Finally, the laptop’s colours have changed for this year. The Galaxy Book 2 Pro is available in two colours: silver and graphite. Silver has a silver lid, but the keyboard base and keys are white, similar to the Mystic Silver option from last year. Graphite replaces Mystic Blue from last year, and it’s all black this time. The original Galaxy Book Pro had a dark blue lid and a black keyboard base.
If you prefer the convertible, your options this year are Silver, Graphite, and Burgundy, the latter of which appears to be inherited from the Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone. The entire chassis is burgundy in this case, but the keyboard keys are black. The Silver option is the same as last year’s Mystic Silver, but not the clamshell version. Instead of a white keyboard, the entire chassis is silver, with black keys. Finally, Graphite is similar to the clamshell version, but it’s a darker grey rather than black.
